Description
The MC139 Santa Fe Base Cap adds a defined upper edge to your baseboard assembly, bringing extra detail to traditional and Colonial interiors. Measuring 3/4″ × 1 5/8″, it offers a decorative finishing touch that can give a plain base a more substantial appearance. When planning your combination, choose baseboards with an upper edge that accommodates the cap, and consider how the finished assembly will meet nearby door trim.
Made from Poplar, this profile is particularly well suited to painted woodwork. The wood’s fine texture provides a good foundation for a smooth painted finish after proper preparation and priming. A single color across the base and cap helps unite the separate pieces, while a contrasting wall color can bring out the profile’s detail.
For a renovation, use a 4-inch sample to check the fit against your existing baseboard before ordering. Look at the combination from across the room as well as close up, so you can judge its proportions alongside your doors and other trim.
