Description

The MC103 Troy Base Cap is a useful finishing detail when you want a layered baseboard design with a relatively small cap. Its 9/16″ × 3/4″ profile adds definition along the upper edge while leaving the main baseboard as the dominant element. Explore our baseboards to plan your combination, checking that the upper edge provides a suitable fit for the cap.

Your choice of wood and finish can help connect this detail to the rest of the room. For painted trim, use a consistent color across the cap, baseboard, and door casings to bring the separate pieces together. For a stained finish, consider how the selected species will complement nearby woodwork, and test your finish on a sample before committing to the full project. When refreshing existing baseboards, check the cap’s projection where it meets door trim and other adjoining surfaces.

To compare another profile with the same dimensions, take a look at the MC101 Potlatch Base Cap. If you want a larger decorative detail, the MC135 Coronado Base Cap measures 11/16″ × 1 3/8″. Comparing samples against your chosen baseboard will help you judge which proportions suit the room.
