Description

1×6 Board

Our nominal 1×6 boards are part of the 1x range and are stocked in 12 species: MDF, Poplar, FJ Poplar Primed, Alder, Knotty Alder, Northern Red Oak, Hard Maple, White Oak, Fir, Clear Pine, Sage FJP, and Knotty Pine.

Actual size is not the same in every material. All 1×6 boards measure 5 1/2″ wide, but thickness runs 11/16″, 13/16″, 3/4″, and 23/32″ depending on which species you pick. The table on this page lists the exact milled size for each one. It is worth checking before you cut, and it matters a great deal if you are butting two materials together in the same run. Our board size guide explains why nominal sizes and actual sizes differ in the first place.

One exception worth noting: Knotty Alder is 5 3/8″ wide, rather than the 5 1/2″ everything else measures. Check that before mixing it into a run.

If this width is not quite right, 1×5 boards are the next size down and 1×8 boards the next size up.

Sold in 8ft and 16ft lengths, with 4in samples available if you want to see a species in person before committing. Free delivery on orders over $300 within 50 miles of any of our stores, and you can contact us if you need a length we do not list.
